K.H. — Story goes that our folks were in China in 1981 and the guy in the village wanted to give the family book to them then. But because China had just opened its doors to the Western World, our folks didn’t want to take it for fear that they would be stopped at the borders and detained for taking something of cultural antiquity out of the country. So, as soon as they returned to American soil, they bought a blank book and a Chinese writing set to send with a note to the guy in the village. He copied the original book and mailed this copy back to our folks. This guy had prevented the original from being burned during the Cultural Revolution by burying it someplace safe.
